Valentine’s Day, It’s OK to Indulge
Mother Nature may not have invented donuts, but she did provide all the good things to make them. Like water, flour, yeast, eggs, butter, sugar, and all the other tasty ingredients.
Thanks, Mother Nature!!! You’re the best!
So you’re on a diet, and that special someone gives you a treat, should you eat it?
YES, absolutely.
One of the most significant faults of deprivation diets is that they do not permit you to splurge. I believe that “splurges are the spice of diets.”
Life happens, and special occasions must be honored to keep us happy and content. Remember, you have the rest of the week to schedule fasting and healthy eating days to make up for the happy treats in life. Or even better, schedule your diet and fasting days before the holiday so you are totally at ease when it comes time to indulge.
I am getting ready and on my third day of fasting for 20/4 (20 hours of fasting with a 4-hour eating window.) During my eating windows, I am eating Keto until Thursday, when I will do an 18-hour fast with a low-carb dinner and eat in moderation Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, but on Tuesday, all diets are off! On Valentine’s day, I plan on loving food like I was 8-years-old once again!!!
If it tastes good – wallow in it!
When special occasions roll around, allow yourself to enjoy them without regret.
Review – Special occasions come along; we should relax and enjoy them.
– Splurges are the spice of diets.
– When special days are coming, try to “fast ahead” to be ready.
– Enjoy eating but keep it realistic – do not allow yourself to binge.
– As soon as the holiday is over, we can all return to our diet and fasting lifestyle.
Food for Thought – we just got our first air fryer. We were unsure which one to buy, so we called our friends who always work magic in the kitchen. Following their recommendations, we picked one up.
One of the first things we made was zucchini chips. The great thing about the air fryer is the minimum amount of cooking oil you need. I cut them too thin, so lesson learned, I will cut them thicker next time. They were so good – we will definitely be doing these again.
Trouble Shooting – Fasting: Headache, dizziness, balance problems, nausea. If you are new to fasting, your body may not be able to “just switch on fat burning,” You must allow it time to relearn how to burn fat. If you experience these symptoms, stop fasting immediately. Make sure you are drinking enough water; consider adding a pinch of sea salt to one glass of water. Have something to eat. Remember, it is not a failure; you will learn to adjust your fasting periods to fit your metabolism.
If symptoms do not subside or worsen, seek medical attention immediately.
If this is a medical emergency, call 911 immediately.
