HI, My name is Jim and I have failed at diets for over 40 years!

It’s true.  I have fallen for just about every other diet plan, pill, gym membership, exercise program, and weight loss plans there are.  The result was that I slowly gained 1-3 pounds per year until I was overweight and then passed that magic number called obese.  Eventually I was diagnosed as prediabetic.

In 2012 the sky fell on me.  In the course of 2 years, I had two nearly fatal strokes, my right carotid artery was 98% blocked, and I had three heart stints.  If I was going to have a life in the future, I had to make changes. I was motivated.  I was going to make dieting stick if it was the last thing I ever did!!!   So, good news, right?  I lost the weight and lived happily ever after!  Well, no.  I would lose 20-30 pounds, then get so fed up with the diet that I couldn’t take it, only to see my weight slowly return.

I kept thinking; I have a BS in Biology, an MS in Science Education, and an ED.S in higher education.  In my career I have worked as a Lab assistant in medical research, taught environmental, health and safety classes at the college level, and was a corporate manager of Environmental, Health and Safety for a major corporation.   I really should be able to figure this out.   After all, I quit smoking when I was 24 and have not smoked in over 40 years.  If I can kick nicotine, why not food?  So I went to the library and the internet and started digging.  I went back to calorie counting, portion control, low carb, and all the stuff I had learned over the years about weight loss.

Then along came Keto.  I spent more money on keto diet books, keto cookbooks, and – well, you know the drill.  After the first 21 days, the net result was a loss of 3 pounds, not too bad or at least a very good start.  However, during Keto, I experienced some of the most crushing food cravings ever.  For me, food cravings have always been the most challenging part of dieting.  I could see that I could not live Keto year in and year out.  For me, keto is just not sustainable.

A ray of light.  A friend told me his daughter had suggested that he fast one day a week and limit his food intake to under 800 calories on the fasting day.  As a result, over 18 months, he had lost 15 pounds.  He said the big surprise was how easy it was.

I spent the next year reading everything I could on IF (Intermittent Fasting.) Finally, after all my research and study, I have become committed to the fasting lifestyle.   Through fasting, I have lost 30+ pounds with no food cravings!   As the months passed, I became more and more committed to IF.  Today I am sure I will never go back to oppressive, long-term deprivation diets.

Intermittent Fasting is an easy concept with a, sometimes, tricky implantation.  In other words, it is so easy to get it wrong.   So many people have tried fasting and failed.  One thing is sure; there is no “one size fits all for successful fasting.”   Every person on earth is a unique individual in spirit, mind, and physiology.  The diet that worked great for your friend or spouse may be a total failure for you.

At Love This Diet, Jim and Genice are dedicated to working with you to develop the optimal weight loss strategy based on your personal lifestyle. You can alter the direction of your life by learning effective methods for losing weight and living a better, healthier, and longer life.
