Holiday Weight Gain and Loss

November 2021 and December 2021 were jam-packed with the usual holiday super treats, and I dug in. Yup, I ate and ate and ate. And, I gained and gained and gained, and I know this is supposed to be about diet, not overindulgence. Or is it? During the celebrations of your life, it should be about Fun, Food, and Happy times!

One of the core concepts of Love This Diet is that you must give yourself breaks when you ignore the scale and party on. Remember, you are not a glutton; you are a person

“Living a life worth living.”

There will be time to return to a healthy lifestyle.

Tally for Jim’s Fun Holidays 2021, average monthly weight gain/loss
November, Gain 0.2 pounds.
December, Gain 1.7 pounds.
Total Average Gain = 1.9 pounds but remember I ate a lot of good food & had a great time!!!
January, Loss 1.7 pounds. 0.2 pounds to go.
February, Loss 1.7 pounds. Overall Weight loss = 3.4 pounds.

So, by the first week in February, I weighed less than in November 2021 and was again back on my weight loss journey. It is important to note that during the last 14 months, I have enjoyed lots of great food. Unlike diets in the past, where I was craving the foods I was missing, I never had any cravings. By combining fasting and a low-carb diet, you will be able to enjoy the foods you love during your nonfasting days and work on weight loss during fasting days. It’s all about slow and easy and the ultimate goal of a healthy lifestyle.

The key is that I can enjoy fun, food, family, and friends without guilt. There was never a doubt that I would return to my weight loss journey in good time. And back I am. Another remarkable thing that happened during the three months (November 2021 through January 2022) was that I lost an additional ½ inch around my waist. Making my total waist reduction so far 3 inches. While having all this fun, my body was still busy reshaping.

Fasting + Time + Diet = Weight Loss

Quick Review
– There are times in your life when it is important to celebrate with friends and family.
– When you do, remember: you are not bad; you are not a glutton; you are a person living a life worth living.
– After the holidays, it only took a few weeks to get back on track.
– Even with a slight weight gain, I still lost another half inch around my waist.

Regular Features
Food for Thought – Food Guilt can add to stress and make weight loss harder. Don’t feel guilty when giving yourself a break from your diet. Instead, keep telling yourself I have been working hard and deserve this break. When it’s time to start fasting, you can say, “I had a great break, and now it’s time to get back to work!”

Trouble Shooting – Is breakfast the most important meal of the day? No. This “old saying” is not based on a scientific study; it’s a breakfast food company’s advertising slogan. When you hear a “diet fact,” you should always ask yourself, “Is this a fact, science, or advertising?”
