Good News for Prediabetics

Are you concerned about your prediabetes? You’re not alone. Prediabetes is a serious condition affecting millions of people in the United States.

But there’s good news – Love This Diet can help prevent prediabetes from developing into diabetes. Imagine how good it will feel to finally take control of your health and get rid of those extra pounds. There’s no reason to wait – You can make this happen today and start seeing results in just a few months!

How can I be so sure that my current diet is the key to preventing diabetes? Here is my proof. Eighteen months ago, I was prediabetic. My A1c was 6.0%, and my fasting blood glucose was 115 to 120 mg/dL or more. A few more percent on the A1c scale, and I would be a diabetic. I was desperate for a solution. In the last 40 years, every diet I had tried, from portion control to fewer calories + more exercise, eventually failed. I would do okay for a while, but I would gain the weight back sooner or later.

I heard about intermittent fasting from a friend, and he assured me that it was much easier than you might think. So what happened? I started fasting every other day for 18 hours, 6 days a week. It was great, the first two months I gained weight!!! I know a diet is supposed to take you the other way, but it was November and December, and the information I was following had assured me that this could happen. I was experiencing the transition phase, and I needed time for my body to relearn how to burn fat. The first week was hard, but it became more manageable after that, and today, it feels routine. Then January rolled around, the holiday treats were gone, and I lost 4 pounds without much effort! I have been losing weight every month since.

So, 18 months is the most prolonged single diet I have ever been on in my entire life, and I have no reason to think that I will not continue for the next 18 months! I currently monitor my blood glucose with a Dexcom G6 CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitor), and my current average fasting blood glucose is from 90 to 95; A1c = 5.5%, well within the normal range.

This Weeks Diet and Lifestyle Q&A – Can hunger ruin your health?

Food for Thought – Eat fresh foods. We live in a world of processed everything! Unfortunately, foods are no exception. One of the things about ultra-processed food is its convenience; it is easy to fix but bad for the body. Eating fresh takes a little more effort, but nothing beats fresh whole foods from a health standpoint.

Trouble Shooting – Can diet drinks ruin your diet? Take the diet cola challenge. Fast for 14 to 16 hours with water and coffee or tea, and then drink a diet drink. Give it a try, and let us know how it goes.

Be safe and be happy.

This Week’s Diet and Lifestyle Answer – No. If hunger could ruin your health, our ancient ancestors would have died out thousands of years ago, and we would not be here today. Historically, hunger was a way of life; hunger was a global problem even into the last century. Only in recent years has hunger been radically reduced worldwide.
